It's a cry...

People of Lyon

Augustes Gnafrons

Pop the corks!

This peculiar noise

Is the cry of anger

To defy the harmful effects of cancer.

From the neck of the bottle

By word of mouth

Let's push the envelope even further

So that this noble servant may forge his own path

And that tomorrow, finally recognized as useful

He informs all French people

On the imperative need to harvest

This fruit of brotherhood.

From big cities to small, remote villages

Let this appeal be heard.

So that in a gigantic challenge

We mobilized all our energies

And so we went to war.

To destroy this formidable cancer

Rising all over the earth.

Cellars, bistros and vineyards

Fans of traditional snacks, gathered around a pot

So, why don't you toast each other freely?

Some are tyrannized by this scourge

They are confined to hospital beds

This is the cry of the friends of life

Spread the word!

So that it reaches the hearing of others.

It's a cry of pain

Here and elsewhere, he will touch hearts.

Open to loving their neighbors.

Under the influence of perfect osmosis

Let us listen and move our hands in unison.

On the paths to healing

These bottle caps will have a bright future

That of serving a noble cause.

Friends, let's push the envelope even further

Along the way, he will meet some friends.

And together in a united struggle

There is still so much to do

They will fight and defeat cancer.

Little Cork (big project)

Small cork stopper

In the noses of the bottles, I hold my seat

To help this wonderful nectar

To grow old and make many people happy.

Every festive event is an opportunity

To blow me up, to send me flying

To fill the glasses without a false neck

And toast to the holy libation…

Then, unceremoniously dragged from my long rest

The wine will flow freely

And with outstretched arms, the merry fellows will drink to health

Of all the winemakers struggling against the vagaries of the profession.

But me, the little cork, vulgar

A stopgap... yet so necessary

Once extracted with an energetic gesture

Generating soft bar music

They put me aside in the dark

Hidden at the bottom of a drawer

And then they throw me out like trash with the garbage.

For some, I am of no interest.

Why, good heavens, such acts of contempt?

Whereas once recycled, repurposed

I could have another life.

Collaborating with associations that help others in distress.

Nature offers us an unparalleled gift.

So let us respect this gift from heaven.

And let's give this spongy material a second life

From Beaujolais to Bordeaux, via Corbières

This cork, brought to light, will give rise to beautiful projects in the future.

Men, women, and volunteers of great generosity

Throughout French territory

During a solidarity mobilization

They collect bottle caps to fund cancer research.

Even more so today than yesterday

Little streams make great rivers

Every penny raised is an important step

Towards the success of a gigantic challenge

To eradicate this disease that tyrannizes life

And bring smiles back to millions of people.
